Larry Bird and Magic Johnson

Boston is a sports town with undying love for their hometown teams. One man whose name will always be synonymous with Beantown is Larry Bird. On this date in 1993 the Boston Celtic honored Larry Legend by raising his #33 to the rafters. The long jersey retirement was held with the Los Angeles Lakers in town and special MC Magic Johnson on the mic.

Bird made plenty of Boston fans happy during his 13 seasons and 3 championships in the green and white. He was not only loyal to the Celtics his entire career but to Converse as well. For years the friendship-rivalry between Bird and Magic Johnson was documented on the hardwood as well as advertisement gold for Converse.

Wearing iconic models like the Pro Leather with Dr. J or the Weapon with Magic, Larry Bird always seemed to stick to the simple black and white colorways.

One of the most iconic players in NBA history, Larry Bird should never have a problem getting free drinks in Boston. Along with his jersey in the rafters we wouldn’t be surprise to see a pair of Converse hanging for good measure.
