Regardless of how I feel the year was in terms of sneaker quality, 2015 was a big year for equality in the United States. And though Nike released a whole collection of footwear and apparel to celebrate, the Sock Dart SP “Be True” will be the sneaker component of the collection that is most remembered with regard the landmark decision.
Nike brought the Sock Dart out of their archives this year, as the precocious runner was originally developed in the early 2000s, and gave it treatments ranging from Fragment-collaborated to Independence Day-themed. But it is hard to deny that the most important colorway of the year was the “Be True” makeup, which paired an all-black upper with a mismatched rainbow gradient strap. There will be more Sock Darts coming in 2016, so if you’re a fan of them you’re in luck, but the “Be True” pairs will endure with a deeper significance than any of their contemporaries.
