Two way tie. The Public School NYC x Air Jordan 12 and the Jordan Retro XIII Chris Paul PE. Both are literally my top silhouettes to play in due to the Zoom cushion set up utilized, but not only that, these two releases were complete fire.
First, Public School has been collaborating with Jordan Brand for quite some time, so for them to utilize their creative aspects and turn an already great shoe into a masterpiece was awesome. From the overall suede material utilized on the shoe, to the dark grey overlay of color. What more can you say?
As for the Jordan Retro XIII Chris Paul PE, the shoe is just an amazing overall fit and look. The shoe plays well on court, and looks well off court, and I’m glad Jordan Brand paid attention to certain aspects of shoes — like releasing PE models to general public. I think it’s a wonderful way for a consumer to attach themselves with models that athletes wear on-court. It gives them more of a personal aspect and ownership.
These two models (including the XI) are definitely close to my heart. These silhouettes are one of the last shoes my late mother had a chance to see myself play basketball in. So sometimes, it’s not a shoe or even a colorway, but the memories that come along with it. Everyone has a story with any item or shoe that they have. For these particular pairs, these have more sentimental value.
