On March 11th, 1985 Larry Bird set a Boston Celtics’ record by scoring 60 points on the Dominique Wilkins lead Atlanta Hawks, who were the home team by the way. Boston fans were probably hoping Bird had that impressive night at Boston Garden but as the saying goes beggars can’t be choosers.
A Converse man from college throughout this NBA career, it was no surprise to see a pair of Pro Leather on his feet that night.
Bird’s stat line is impressive. He shot 22-36 from the floor with only 1 3-pointer along with going 15-16 at the charity stripe. Ohhh and that one 3-pointer came from a play now called “from the trainers lap” because he talks trash then drains a shot where defender knocks him off balance and he falls directly into a trainer. Man he was good.
