Nike MAG

The Nike MAG is the auto-lacing sneaker worn by Michael J. Fox’s character, Marty McFly in the film series Back To The Future. It was first seen in the 1989 film, Back to the Future II, as Marty was in the year 2015 to straighten out his life, which was drastically different from the first film. While the original version did not actually auto-lace, Nike wasn’t going to let this futuristic fantasy slide past without actually making auto-lacing pairs of the Nike MAG. With the original goal of creating an auto-lacing version for the 20th anniversary of the film in 2009, Nike designers set out to make the impossible a reality. Although they weren’t able to realize the futuristic sneakers in 2009, by 2011, they had readied pairs for what would be the largest eBay charity auction in the history of the online marketplace.
