My Favorite BHM Sneaker

With January nearing its end, and February quickly approaching, I wanted to highlight one of my all-time favorite sneakers in Nike’s annual Black History Month collection. The sneaker I am speaking of is the Air Force 1 low, from the 2012 collection. This sneaker is not one that is typically talked about and pretty much looked over because of the popularity of the LeBron, Kobe, and KD models that also released in the same collection. The funny thing is that I was one of those sneakerheads who originally didn’t really give this silhouette the time of day. I remember trying to get one of the three sneakers previously mention and completely failing (this was one of the few time I’ve actually waited in line for a shoe). Once I got into the store, every one of the BHM signature basketball sneakers was sold out, but the Air Force 1 caught my eye. What was I thinking by not paying attention to this sneaker! I had to add these to my collection.

The upper was covered is predominately midnight fog premium suede upper with a hint of brown suede on the heel. Nike branding could be found on the heel tab in a premium black suede along with the Swoosh on both the lateral and medial sides of the sneaker…very clean! This sneaker, even to this day, has to be made up of some of the best materials. To top of this amazing shoe, you can see a translucent outsole where you can see a very eye-catching geometric tribal print peeking through, with the word “UPLIFT” printed boldly in white. This vibrant tribal print can also be found on the laces, insole, and sock liner. This is a beautifully crafted sneaker and one of the best to ever come out of any of the BHM collection. What are some of your favorite models to come out of this yearly Nike collection?
