For this week’s edition of Footwear Jobs This Week we are taking a look at some the current job openings available as a footwear designer. While we know if you’re reading Sneaker History, you’re probably aware of some of the most popular footwear designers like Tinker Hatfield (Air Max, Air Jordans, etc), Peter Moore (Air Force 1), Tuan Le (And1 Tai Chi), Jason Petrie (LeBrons) and the countless others who have made indelible marks on the soul of the sneaker world, but if you’ve ever wanted to turn your sketchbook into dreams come true, here’s a handful of footwear design jobs available right now.

Design Director – KEEN Footwear
Portland, Oregon, USA
KEEN is a brand that focuses primarily on outdoor footwear, while dabbling in boots and street fashion. They’re also the parent company of the popular bag company, Chrome Industries. The potential to take KEEN Footwear to new levels makes this a great opportunity for an experienced footwear designer with a keen sense of style (sorry, I had to).

Designer Advance Concepts – adidas
Portland, Oregon, USA
Presumably in this role, you would push the envelope of design with direction and concepts that can lead to new ideas for the adidas brand while working on the international design team alongside marketing and development teams.

Senior Designer, Classics Footwear – Reebok
Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Reebok has a deep heritage of iconic sneakers dating back over 100 years. The once pinnacle brand is looking for a senior level footwear designer to help reinvigorate their Classics Footwear line.

Senior Footwear Designer – ASICS

Color Design Director – Nike
Beaverton, Oregon, USA
One of the more under-appreciated footwear design jobs is the what some companies call the Color Designer. The role of Color Design Director at Nike Basketball plays an instrumental part in the storytelling that goes along with The Swoosh’s heritage.

Design Foundry – New Balance
Lawrence, Massachusetts, USA
The New Balance Design Foundry role is a one year program as a footwear design apprentice. This is a great starting place for aspiring footwear designers to gain valuable knowledge at the side of more experienced designers.

Designer Director, Basketball Footwear – adidas
Portland, Oregon, USA
The adidas Hoops team is looking for design director. This role would help define the design for the basketball category. Presumably, in this role you’d work with the marketing, development, and product teams on team shoes and signature models for athletes like James Harden, Damian Lillard and others.

3D Artist – Nike
Beaverton, Oregon, USA
Another under-appreciated role when it comes to footwear design is the job of 3D Artist. You might not be the face of a design as the 3D artist that brings a designer’s shoe concept to life but in this day and age, it’s hard to even imagine a shoe being designed without this job role.

Footwear Designer 1 – PUMA
Boston, Massachusetts, USA
Think you can concept new designs for one of the oldest footwear companies around? PUMA is looking for a designer to work on footwear designs from start to finish under the Creative Design Director and Head of Design.
