Dee Brown 1991 Slam Dunk Champion Card

As sneaker fanatics when you think of Dee Brown more than likely what you think about him pumping up his Reebok Pump Omni Zone 2 throughout the 1991 NBA Slam Dunk Contest. His no-look dunk to beat Shawn Kemp in the final round is iconic much like MJ’s free throw dunk. Some interesting facts about the dunk was that it was his first time attempting it. “I didn’t figure I was going to do that dunk until I was running towards the basket. I pretty much knew I already won the dunk contest. So I wanted to do a signature dunk. I wanted something that everyone would remember me by”.

Well he was right about that, as he is definitely most remembered for that dunk. And we’re sure Reebok was happy, as his kicks got plenty of the spotlight as he pumped up before nearly every dunk that year. His dunk is iconic enough that former-Boston Celtic Gerald Green did a modified tribute dunk over Nate Robinson during the 2007 contest.

Nowadays Dee Brown is still in the NBA as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. He’s even shown that he still has some hops left in those legs of his. But sneakerheads and basketball fanatics will always remember him for beating out Shawn Kemp in 1991 rocking his Pumps and putting on a show throughout the competition.
