If you want to talk about slept-on athletes, Alex English is probably near the top of your list. The 8-time NBA All Star– actually let’s pause a minute to take that into consideration. 8 All Star appearances puts Alex English on par with players like Rick Barry, Carmelo Anthony, Vince Carter, Yao Ming and Dikembe Mutombo, and ahead of players like Walt Frazier, Grant Hill, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Durant and Alonzo Mourning. He even led the NBA in scoring in 1983 (28.4 points per game for those scoring at home) thanks to games like these…

He did so wearing the PUMA Sky LX during his Denver years. Which may seem strange by today’s standards, considering PUMA hasn’t been putting much effort into basketball shoes in the modern era (although rumor has it, they may be making a comeback soon). But if you think about it, many of PUMA’s classics were made so on the basketball court. You could even say he made the Sky LX a classic, considering during his time in Denver, English led the Nuggets to 9 straight playoff appearances. So it makes sense that today in sneaker history, the Nuggets raised the team’s all time leading scorer and should-be Hall of Famer’s (he’s 17th on the all time scoring list!) jersey into the rafters.
