Ever since Supreme and Nike SB first teamed up in 2002 sneakerheads wait in anticipation to find out what collaborative sneaker is next. Supreme rarely disappoints as nearly every sneaker they touch tends to be hard to purchase and a reseller’s dream. And it’s no surprise why Supreme grows in popularity year after year. Proving how popular the brand is back in April 2009 they put their own spin on the Nike Bruin and unsurprisingly the pack sold out fast.

The Nike Bruin was one of the first low-top basketball shoes developed by the Swoosh way back in 1972. By the 2000’s its popularity had dwindled and really wasn’t up to par as a basketball choice. So Nike SB had decided to add the model to their lineup and try and give it another life. So if anyone could give the model some shine and attention (besides Michael J. Fox) it was Supreme. Their take on the Bruin was typical formula when they create multiple colorways of one model. They keep it simple with details that make it uniquely Supreme.

The Supreme phrase “World Famous” was a focal point of the collaboration. The phrase appeared on the heels of each pair and on matching double-label keychains packaged along. Three of the four colorways of the Bruin carried the same colorblocking DNA. A solid colored upper made in mostly suede with leather on the heel. A contrasting metallic Swoosh was added which was also used on the special Supreme insoles. The white/Varsity Red pair differed from the rest by matching the heel color to the Swoosh. Along with those details each pair also saw the “Supreme” box logo added onto the white vulcanized outsole.

Pine Green, Varsity Red, white or black were your choices while the most hardcore Supreme fan somehow got their hand on all four. But even the biggest Supreme-head probably doesn’t have a pair of mis-printed Bruins.
