Remember When LeBron Clowned Kevin Love’s Kicks?

Today is Kevin Love’s 31st birthday and I decided to revisit one of the funniest moments I can remember about Kevin Love. First off, let me start by saying I am a fan of Kevin Love, so this is just all fun and games, the same as it was for LeBron back in 2016.

Back then, a photo of Love in High School from Slam Magazine was posted on Twitter. K-Love was wearing his Lake Oswego High School uniform, matched with a pair of player exclusive kicks from that year’s Round Ball Classic tournament. The PEs were actually Jay Z’s signature sneakers from Reebok, the S. Carter B-Ball Low. Mind you this was back in 2006.

Fast forward 10 years and the photo is resurfaced by Slam. Now, back in 2011, Kevin Love had signed a sneaker deal with 361°, a Chinese brand that was making a huge push in the United States back then. Kevin Love had already been setting NBA records in PEAK signature shoes before the deal but sneakerheads wondered why Love wouldn’t take his talents to Beaverton for a sneaker deal. Apparently, he was waiting for LeBron 🔌

In comes LeBron James with the retweet

WHAT ARE THOOOOOSSSSEEEE!!! 👀#KickGameWeakSauce 😂😂😂😂

The tweet went viral in the basketball and sneaker communities with 15k+ retweets and it didn’t take long for Kevin Love to reply with “Helllllpppppp Meeeee @KingJames.”

Shortly after that, Kevin Love showed off his on-court kicks. Not surprisingly, Love wore the Nike LeBron 2 for much of his high school games.

Kevin Love has been wearing Nikes ever since…
