Today marks the anniversary of one of the most famous scenes in NBA history: Reggie Miller’s now infamous choke sign directed toward legendary sneaker enthusiast and New York Knicks fan, Spike Lee. On June 1, 1994, Reggie Miller and the Indiana Pacers headed to New York to take on the New York Knicks in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Knicks got off to a good start and had the lead early in the 4th quarter. Then, Reggie Miller got hot and it quickly became “Miller Time.”

Wearing the Nike Air Prevail, Reggie Miller hit five 3-pointers in the 4th quarter, an NBA record. After each basket, Miller and Spike Lee, who was in his usual court side seats, taunted each other continually including Reggie’s infamous choke sign. The two are notorious trash talkers and remain friends off the court. Miller would get the best of this day’s battle as he scored 25 points in the 4th quarter on his way to a game-high 39 points.

Well played, Reg. Well played.
