During the 1992 NBA All-Star Game Michael Jordan brought out the non-Bulls “Bordeaux” Air Jordan 7’s. So in 1993 sneakerheads were anticipating what MJ would break out in Salt Lake City, Utah. He did not disappoint as he laced and strapped on a pair of the “Aqua” Air Jordan 8’s — a colorway that would never match up with the Bulls’ uniform and one that made Charlotte Hornet fans wonder “what if….”

Besides the black base and red Jumpman logos, this nubuck version of the AJ8 didn’t have any other colors that would work with Chicago uni’s. The combination of Bright Concord and Aqua appeared on the new carpet-like tongue logo. But the colors were primarily seen on the midsole, muguard panel and outsole. Otherwise, the Tinker Hatfield design was mostly in black.

After wearing them during that All-Star Game MJ never had a reason to break them out for a game. He did get to wear them during advertisements and off-court, especially with matching apparel. Most mostly we’ve seen the classic colorway worn by the likes of Kanye West and Eric Bledsoe.

After its original release in 1993, the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” was brought back in 2007. Today’s Black Friday release will mark only the third time the special colorway has been available. So if they are for you don’t sleep on this Remastered pair, you don’t know the next time that they’ll make a return.
