The 1996 season was a year in which Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls made a lot of history. Having lost to the upstart Orlando Magic the year prior, during the Playoffs, MJ had more than enough motivation to come into the season ready to show the world what he was capable of. That year the Bulls would go on to a record-setting 72-10 regular season record with the team and the man himself cementing themselves in NBA history.

That season most people associate Michael with the Black/Red aka “BRED” pair of Air Jordan 11’s. However, he would actually switch it up and wear the Air Jordan XI IE Low a handful of times. The revised and modified version of the Air Jordan 11 took away the patent leather and replaced it with elephant print. Another big change from the standard pair was the smokey translucent outsole rather than red. These were on his feet when he scored 35 points on 44.8% shooting, 8 of 9 free throws, and 5 dimes. This game would also knock the Patrick Ewing-led New York Knicks out of the Playoffs and set the Bulls up with a rematch against the Orlando Magic. And we know how that series and year ended–with the Bulls’ 4th Championship title.
