Having his name all over the record books is one of many reasons Michael Jordan is considered as the greatest of all-time. On this date back in 1992 “His Airness” was the catalyst for his team to be victorious over the Portland Trailblazers. The series was a tough fought match-up between the top team’s of their respective conferences. Game 1 was special all thanks to a shrug, however when the Blazers shocked the Bulls at home in game 2, you could tell the Blazers weren’t throwing in the towel. Laced up in the Black/True Red version of his Air Jordan 7’s, MJ was up to the challenge put forth by the team from Portland.

It was especially difficult because his counterpart on the other team, Clyde Drexler, was waiting to show that he shouldn’t be in Jordan’s shadow. But Michael was there to win and be the best. By the time the final whistle blew at the end of game 6 and the Bulls won he would average 35.8 pts per game on 53% shooting from the floor. Throw 6.5 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game and it was no surprise to see him handed the MVP trophy at the end. He would become the first player in NBA history to win back-to-back Finals MVP honors, matching the back-to-back world title for Chicago. Another trophy for the bookcase and another addition of his name to the record books.
