Happy birthday to the Beard aka James Harden! And a very happy birthday it is as adidas recently signed the Rockets star to a $200 million dollar contract for 13 years. I guess they decided it was better to sign a premier athlete and unique personality rather than making sleeved jerseys for the NBA.
It also helps that Harden plays for the Houston Rockets, who still have one of the largest Chinese followings in the NBA (just look at the former and current Rockets players wearing Anta and Peak). It will be a change for sneaker fans though as Harden has been wearing the Swoosh since his time as a cleaner cut player at Arizona State University.
Just a guess, but Harden will be the next adidas athlete to have a signature sneaker probably set to release in the next six months or so. All we know is that hopefully he continues to make commercials and work with Foot Locker.
