One of the league’s most highly sought after free agents this off season has one of the most impressive resumes a 4 year player can have, and we’re not talking LeBron. Kawhi Leonard, the former San Diego State Aztec has racked up some impressive hardware for the trophy case since he joined the NBA and the San Antonio Spurs in 2011.
- NBA champion (2014)
- NBA Finals MVP (2014)
- NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2015)
- NBA All-Defensive First Team (2015)
- NBA All-Defensive Second Team (2014)
- NBA All-Rookie First Team (2012)
Not bad for a guy who went 15th in that NBA draft.
What’s even more impressive is his footwear resume. I should know, I wrote about Kawhi the entire time he was at SDSU. It’s not a surprise that when he joined the NBA, he quickly turned all those retro purchases into becoming a Team Jordan representative. Leonard has the ferocity on court and the professionalism off the court that makes him the perfect brand ambassador.
The only thing that doesn’t make sense is that Kawhi Leonard is just turning 24 years old today. Here’s hoping there are many more years of life and basketball in his future.
