Air Max Day…in April?

With Air Max Day in the rear view mirror, and no notable drops to speak of…what do we do now? This year Nike chose to forgo any big releases (at least in the United States). Instead, they focused their energy on their “Give Fresh Air” initiative, which was their way of giving back to the community. This was amazing for the Swoosh to use their platform and influence to do something good for the world.

But, for those who are upset about the lack of releases, dry your eyes. It looks as though Nike will be making all you Air Max heads happy starting on March 30. This weekend the Air Jordan 3 Tinker “Air Max 1” found it’s way onto shelves. Even though this is not your typical Air Max release it’s still a must have for fans of both sneakers. This model pays serious homage to two of Tinker’s most storied designs. Plus, the interchangeable swooshes are an amazing touch. The only draw back to this sneaker is the steep $225 price tag.

If you are looking for a more traditional Air Max release, then beginning on April 9th you need to have your SNKRS app locked and loaded. On that day you will find another Nike collaboration with a family movie. This time on the timeless Air Max 1 model. The Air Max “Susan”, centered around the new movie Missing Link, follows movie collaborations such as Paranorman. With a design based off of the movie’s main character, Susan, this is definitely a unique colorway and something dope to add to the collection.

Now for what us sneakerheads have been waiting for…April 13th. On this day we will be graced with the release of the sneakers from the “On Air” design contest! There will be six uniquely designed Air Max sneakers releasing simultaneously on the SNKRS app. Originally thought to release on Air Max Day, in the states, it looks like we have to wait a little longer to get our hands on these. In a follow up to the same contest that produced the ever famous Wotherspoon 97/1, Nike is hoping to create that same magic. Although I am not a fan of all of these pairs, I can definitely respect the thoughtfulness and work put into each design.

Personally, the two I’m looking out for are the “La Mezcla” Air Max 98 and the “Neon Seoul” Air Max 97 (certified bangers!).

Is anyone else excited for these releases? Or are you still salty that these releases didn’t happen on Air Max Day? Tell us your thoughts and listen to our Podcast for more on thoughts on these kicks!
