Eric Koston is now onto his 4th decade on this earth but that doesn’t mean his popularity has waned any. In fact he might be more popular especially since he is now part of the Nike family. Skateboarding now for over 30 years, the Southern California native has been one of the most popular skateboarders ever. What makes him even more special is that he has been a sneakerhead, and Nike lover for a long time. He also has cool projects like the Berrics and just seems like a cool guy overall.

But before he made his way to the Swoosh he was a key member of the éS team for many years along with, no surprise, Girl Skateboards. It is was éS that he got his first signature line that released seven different models. But even that time it was evident his love for Nike as he took styling cues and “tech” from some of his favorite models. After over 10 years with éS Koston made the change to Lakai. While only at Lakai for a few years that didn’t stop the brand from releasing a number of Koston models. It was easy since they did take cues from his previous models.

But that connection was short, and even though he felt Nike screwed over P-Rod initially, he made his way to be a Nike SB signature athlete. It took a couple of years before they released his first signature model, but they had him put his touches on some Dunks before then. Since with Nike not only has he had his signature line and special collaborations, but also a familiar face at events and commercials. Transcending just skate culture, Koston’s personality and popularity has been a sound investment for Nike. Happy Birthday Mr. Koston, don’t ever change.
