So, is anyone else excited for the Fantastic Four reboot releasing this weekend? I mean it has Michael Jordan in it, seriously. Now we wonder if Nike will get back into the Fantastic Four fever once again. In 2006, they released themed sneakers inspired by the 2005 Fantastic Four movie starring Jessica Alba (hello). From the pack, the most popular and talked about sneaker was the “Invisible Woman” Air Force 1 Low.

Inspired by Mrs. Richards, the Air Force 1 was treated with the clear plastic treatment and everyone had an opinion on them. The clean plastic paneling was combined with both Military Blue and Harbor Blue to represent the Invisible Woman’s suit. Those who loved it couldn’t figure what cool socks to wear with them–remember in the mid-2000’s socks weren’t as crazy as they were now. Those who hated them cringed at the thought of barefooted “sneakerheads” walking around steaming up their sneakers. It’s hard to believe that its been nine years since they released. What was even more surprising was that the AF1’s were made only in men’s sizing although the ladies eventually got an Iris-based version, though not very “Invisible Woman.”
