Yeezy 700 V3 "debut"

The Yeezy 700 V3 arrived in 2019 as a significant structural departure from the V1 and V2 iterations that preceded it. Where those earlier versions leaned on chunky midsole stacking and mixed material uppers, the V3 stripped things back considerably, removing the boost cushioning entirely in favor of a new KNITPHASE upper and an EVA-based Bouncer midsole unit. The result was a silhouette that felt lighter and more technical, even as it retained the general dad-shoe proportions the 700 line established.

The debut colorway, released under the name Azael, set the tone for how adidas and Kanye West would approach the V3 palette going forward. The upper works through a tonal dark grey construction built from the engineered knit, with translucent cage overlays wrapping the midfoot in a way that reads almost skeletal under certain lighting. Those semi-clear structural elements sit over the knit rather than blending into it, giving the shoe a layered quality that photographs differently depending on the environment. The midsole runs a matching charcoal tone, and reflective details appear at the heel tab and select upper zones, adding low-key visibility without disrupting the overall muted register of the colorway.

At 200 dollars retail, the V3 launched at the same price point as much of the broader Yeezy 700 line, though the redesigned construction and elimination of Boost drew mixed reactions from the existing fanbase. For some, the move away from Boost felt like a step back in terms of cushioning performance. For others, the cleaner silhouette and reduced weight made the V3 a more wearable everyday option than its predecessors.
