The Trophy Room x Air Jordan 16 is a family affair, produced by Marcus Jordan’s Orlando boutique, Trophy Room, which has built a reputation for collaborations rooted in the Jordan family legacy. The Air Jordan 16 was the shoe Michael Jordan wore during the 2000-01 NBA season, designed by Wilson Smith with its defining feature being the woven inner bootie covered by a zip-off leather shroud, a polarizing design that divided collectors for years before appreciation for it grew significantly.
This Trophy Room iteration dresses the silhouette in University Blue tumbled leather across the shroud and upper, a color choice that carries obvious UNC connotations and ties directly to the Jordan family’s North Carolina roots. The shroud carries debossed Trophy Room branding in place of the usual text, while a silver Jumpman medallion sits at the center of the shroud closure, consistent with the original tooling. The midsole is white with a translucent icy outsole, a detail that elevates the overall presentation and references classic Jordan retro aesthetics.
The collaboration dropped in 2021 and was notable for its tight allocation, distributed primarily through Trophy Room’s own channels, which kept demand high among collectors. The University Blue leather construction gives the shoe a clean, tonal look that works whether read as a Jordan Brand heritage piece or a Trophy Room lifestyle release. The AJ16 remains one of the more underappreciated silhouettes in the numbered Air Jordan line, and collaborations like this one have helped rehabilitate its standing.
