Zoom LeBron VI "The Six"

2008

Sneaker history

The Nike Zoom LeBron VI ‘The Six’ released in 2008 as part of the storytelling colorway series that Nike built around LeBron James’s sixth signature shoe. The name references the Roman numeral of the silhouette itself, and the shoe carries that theme through several small details, including the ‘The Six’ script embroidered on the tongue badge alongside a lion crest graphic.

The upper construction pairs perforated black mesh and synthetic panels with a smooth yellow leather mudguard that wraps the toe box and quarter panel. A metallic silver Swoosh anchors the lateral midfoot, sitting against the dark base in high contrast. Carbon fiber print paneling appears at the heel, a nod to the performance-oriented aesthetic that defined mid-2000s Nike Basketball design. Houndstooth rope laces add a texture break from the otherwise clean material palette, tying back to patterns used across the LeBron VI series. The midsole is stacked and structured, finished in black with yellow stitching detail and a grey outsole.

The lateral strap features the LeBron ‘LJ’ logo badge, and the overall black and yellow blocking drew immediate comparisons to the color scheme of the Pittsburgh Steelers, though Nike never officially positioned it around that association. The shoe sat within a broader family of LeBron VI colorways released throughout the 2008-09 NBA season, each carrying its own narrative detail while sharing the same performance platform built around full-length Zoom Air cushioning.
