The Nike SB Dunk Low ‘Hemp’ is one of the more texturally distinctive releases to come out of the SB line’s formative years. The upper is constructed from a natural hemp canvas, a coarse woven material that reads almost like burlap in hand and gives the shoe a noticeably organic, utilitarian character compared to the suede and leather builds that dominated SB production at the time. Forest green suede lands on the Swoosh, heel overlay, collar lining, and toe cap reinforcement, providing a strong contrast against the raw natural base. The gum midsole transitions into a forest green rubber outsole, a combination that ties the earthy tones together while remaining functional for skate use. The lace eyelets are minimal and tone-matched to the upper, keeping the profile clean. Padding at the tongue and collar follows standard SB construction for the period, with the thicker cushioning setup that separated the SB line from standard Dunk production. The ‘Hemp’ colorway sits within a broader moment when Nike SB was experimenting with unconventional materials and natural palettes, a thread that would resurface repeatedly across SB’s catalog in subsequent years. The shoe has maintained collector interest largely because of its material storytelling and the rarity of seeing a production Dunk built around a raw woven textile.
