The LeBron 8 V2 in the 112 colorway came out of a collaboration between Nike and DJ Clark Kent, the Brooklyn-based DJ and longtime sneaker collector whose influence on basketball footwear culture runs deeper than most casual observers realize. Clark Kent had been part of the Nike family for years before this project, and the 112 represented one of the more distinct player-edition styles attached to the LeBron 8 V2 silhouette during its 2011 run.
The colorway name references Clark Kent’s area code, a detail that grounded the shoe in a specific geography and personal identity rather than generic branding. The palette works with black as the dominant base across the upper, with grey providing contrast through the midsole and various overlays, and volt cutting through as the high-visibility accent on the outsole and select details. The combination sits in line with the bold tonal choices that defined LeBron signature footwear during this period, though the volt keeps it from reading as purely understated.
The LeBron 8 V2 itself was the updated, lighter version of the LeBron 8, which LeBron James wore during the 2010-11 NBA season with the Miami Heat. Nike stripped weight from the original construction for the V2 iteration, adjusting the tooling and upper to produce a cleaner profile. The 112 colorway was built around Clark Kent’s personal story rather than anything directly tied to LeBron’s on-court narrative, making it a somewhat different kind of PE. The collaboration carried weight in collector circles because of Clark Kent’s credibility, not just his association with Nike, and the shoe reflected that standing through its restrained but deliberate design choices.
