The Nike Air Max 1 ‘112’ is one of the more storied collaborative Air Max releases of the 2000s, built around New York DJ and sneaker collector DJ Clark Kent and named after his famously large shoe size. Released in 2007, the shoe takes the classic Air Max 1 silhouette and loads it with references drawn from the broader Nike and Jordan Brand universe. The elephant print that dominates the mudguard and toe box pulls directly from the Air Jordan III, rendered here in black and white against a wolf grey leather quarter panel. A volt Swoosh anchors the lateral side while matching volt laces and a volt-tinted Air unit and outsole tie the color story together across the build. The midsole sits atop a golf-spike outsole, a detail that nods to Clark Kent’s well-known love of golf and distinguishes this release from standard Air Max 1 production. The material combination of nubuck, smooth leather, and elephant-print synthetic gives the shoe a layered, tactile quality that rewards close inspection. The ‘112’ arrived during a period when Nike was leaning heavily into collector-focused collaborations tied to cultural figures outside of traditional athletics, and Clark Kent’s deep roots in both New York hip-hop and sneaker culture made him a natural fit for a project centered on the Air Max 1, a shoe with its own strong following among European and American collectors alike.
