The Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Polarized Pink’ arrived in 2012 as one of the more visually striking colorways in the Foamposite catalog. The shoe’s one-piece molded shell, the defining structural element of the Foamposite line since its 1997 debut, is rendered here in a deep, reflective pink that reads almost magenta under direct light. The metallic sheen amplifies every contour ridge across the shell, making the shoe impossible to miss on or off the court.
Black neoprene lines the collar and tongue, providing the contrast that keeps the pink from reading as monochromatic. A small white Swoosh sits on the lateral heel, understated against the bold upper. The outsole is translucent, a detail borrowed from the original 1997 Penny Hardaway release that Nike has returned to on select Foamposite colorways over the years. The perforated midsole panel visible through the translucent rubber nods to the shoe’s basketball performance roots.
This colorway generated significant attention at release, consistent with how Nike managed Foamposite drops in the early 2010s, when demand routinely outpaced supply at retail. The ‘Polarized Pink’ sits in a lineage of non-traditional Foamposite colors, alongside releases like the ‘Galaxy’ and ‘Weatherman,’ that expanded the silhouette well beyond its original on-court context. Worn examples like the one pictured show the translucent outsole developing a light yellowing, a common aging characteristic for this material.
