Sample Sunday: College AJ3s

We can’t front like shoe sponsorships don’t factor into many prospective college recruits decisions. D1 athletics and big brands like Nike, Under Armor and adidas are closer than Brendan Dunne and Matt Welty – basically Nike (and others) wants to make sure the colleges they sponsor show that Swoosh in each and every appearance. With that said, the athletes sure do get some perks from this partnership (they should be compensated in some way but that’s a conversation for another day) with access to limited sneakers most of us will never touch.

The best-of-the-best major collegiate programs receive the greatest benefits of all via exclusive off-field/off-court shoes in the form of lifestyle or retro offerings. Think of it this way – the TCU Horned Frogs get student-athlete ‘TCU’ PE Nike Trout 3 baseball cleats; but the University Of Oregon gets ‘Pit Crew’ Air Jordan 3s… But in the same breath, both programs have various GR Nike Training shoes available for their fans. There’s levels to this ish!
