Nowadays its seems like collaborations are based around themes and stories, which works well. But when Futura put his spin on the Nike SB Dunk Low Pro in 2003, he just designed a great sneaker. A mixture of complementary colors working with quality materials resulted in a sneaker still sought after over a decade later.

The native New York artist created this special sneaker during the Nike SB silver-box era. The colors of this particular Dunk were very close to those of the hometown Yankees. Each color on the sneaker was represented by a different material. Nightshade blue tumbled leather was chosen for the toe and heel panels. Black mesh on the side panel wrapped around with Shark grey suede. The grey also was used on the midsole a change from the normal white Dunk look. Finishing off the upper was a white Swoosh in smooth leather that matched one of two sets of laces that came with the kicks.

The start of a long relationship with Nike that has continued, Futura hit a home-run with his rendition of the Dunk Low.
