In the mid-2000s finding a pair of Black and Royal Air Jordan 1’s meant trying to either find OG’s or 2001 retros. And if you wanted to skate in a pair like some of your 80’s skate heroes, well that meant dropping a pretty penny for a pair of kicks that would eventually get ruined. Well Nike SB gave us another option by releasing the original black/Royal Blue Dunk Low “J-Pack”

Inspired by the original colorway of the AJ1, the sneaker paid homage to the history to the shoe that was used by skateboarders. Hard to believe now but thanks to their unique looks they ended up on sales racks. So skaters snatched pairs up for cheap and following the lead of others. 10 years ago this month you had a chance to go to your favorite Nike SB dealer and pick up your pair. The color blocking was identical to the Jordan 1 but they switched up the materials. Nubuck was worked in with the leather paneling. The liner of the Dunk was also changed up to Royal. Of course, the shoes got the SB treatment so oval laces (in either black or Royal) and Zoom Air insoles were added. Of course, now Nike SB has used the same color blocking in the form of a “Neon”, “BRED” and Teal Dunks, but the original J-Packs are still the best.
