On this day in history, March 10th of 2004, the Orlando Magic’s Tracy McGrady went off on the Washington Wizards scoring 62 points leading his team to victory. On his feet were his adidas T-Mac 3.5, not the T-Mac 3 as many think. Along with the career high 62 points he also snagged 10 rebounds and dished 5 assists to complete the game. He shot 20-for-37 from the field, including 5-for-14 from 3-point range and made 17 of 26 free throws. Just imagine if he shoot the 3-ball or free throws at a higher clip.

Before this game it had been nearly a decade since anyone else had scored 60+ points in a NBA game. He also broke the Orlando Magic team record of 52 points held by Shaq. It was a highlight during a difficult season for T-Mac and the Orlando Magic. “I couldn’t get into it because of the record we have, the fact we’re not going nowhere after the regular season — it’s just frustrating.”

Still T-Mac had to be happy that he was able to get the home crowd a much needed victory. Oh and he overshadowed a Gilbert Arenas’ 40-point game also.
