What dropped this weekend? Oh yeah, the new Travis Scott album! Astroworld posts have been flooding social media since late Thursday night so it’s only fitting we join in on the fun. Scott’s third major label release has garnered immediate praise for it’s new-age, trippy (triplet laden) sound. With an A-List group of collaborations from top artists like Drake, The Weeknd, Migos and Frank Ocean the album offers a diverse mix of styles and sounds. For example Wake Up sounds like a classic, smooth, Scott track while Coffee Bean gives listeners a more intimate look at Scott on a personal basis; but worry not there’s plenty of bangers sprinkled in-between.
As the face of new school hip-hop and Jordan Brand (since Drake kinda left? Who knows at this point) Travis has feet firmly planted in both lanes of ‘the culture’ (take that however you’d like). Since signing with JB, Travis has been seen rocking serious heat but mostly Jordan 4 classics like the ‘Thunders’, ‘Black Lasers’, ‘Pine Greens’ and ‘Cool Greys’. Earlier this year we saw a Houston Oilers themed ‘Cactus Jack’ Jordan 4 retro release but the internet is well aware of other Jordan 4 goodies stashed away in the closets of very few individuals. The ‘Nike Boyz hops out (his) coup” in some tough Jordan 4’s so lets take a look at both pairs.
Purple Suede
The ‘Purple Suede’ Cactus Jacks have no release date, resulting in fans clamoring for a pair. They remind us of a ‘Reverse Raptors’ type color scheme with the purple and red. They’re definitely neck breakers.
How do you rock your Jordan 4’s? You can notice a subtle difference between the pair above and the rest of the ‘Purple Suedes’. Above, you’ll see grey and purple along the outsole, but here you’ll see Travis Wearing a pair with a black outsole.
It’s hard to tell but the back of the right foot says ‘Cactus Jack’ like the ‘Oilers’ Jordan 4’s.
Olive
Are these a rich man’s ‘Undefeated’ 4’s or a poor man’s? The lack of orange makes a big difference but the ‘Olive’ Travis Scott samples have a simplicity about them that draws people in. We can see this pair working well with any fall look, maybe we’ll see them release in quarter 4?
Like the ‘Purple Suedes’ it appears there are two variants of the ‘Olive’ Travis Scotts. In on-foot pics of Travis we can see that the olive wraps around the outsole compared to the first picture’s use of black and white. The pair below features a mismatch outsole too!
