Vintage Sneakers – Original Nike Air Max 1 From 1987

March is here and that means it’s officially the unofficial holiday for Nike Air Max sneaker collectors. The annual Air Max Day is March 26th, which started in 2014 as a way to celebrate the original Nike Air Max 1 that released on March 26th, 1987. If you recall, the Air Max 1 was revolutionary.

This year, there’s a lot of excitement for Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97 Hybrid releasing and the atmos Animal Pack, among plenty of others. But really, what’s a grail for a true Air Max Collector?

An original Nike Air Max 1 from 1987. This OG version may not have the American Flag on the tongue like more modern versions but you can almost hear the colorway chanting…USA, USA, USA! With a production date of 11-1-1987, this was clearly a later colorway of the original Air Max to release back then. Obviously these aren’t wearable but they are a true piece of history and kept under the right conditions, will only become more valuable over time.

You can grab this pair on eBay now.
