The 1987-88 season was Michael Jordan’s best up to that point and arguably the best of his career. Earlier in the year he won the 1988 Dunk Contest in front of his hometown crowd along with grabbing the All-Star game MVP award. But the big accolades really came at the end of the season. Jordan would lead the Bulls in scoring during 81 of the 82 regular season games while scored 40+ points during 18 games. So it was no surprise that he won the Scoring Title. The Defensive Player of the Year award went to him also making him the only player in NBA history to win both. He is also the only player in NBA history to combine these awards with the season’s Most Valuable Player award.

You just have to feel sorry for the Cleveland Cavaliers when it came to playing Michael Jordan. The 6th seeded Cavs would be matched up against the #3 seeded Bulls. MJ strapped on his “Fire Red” Air Jordan 3’s and looked to continue the scoring barrage from the regular season to postseason. Playing at home Jordan would do just that. During the first game of the series he would score an even 50 points shooting 54% from the floor and making each of his 12 free throws leading the team to a 104-93 victory. Game 2 was very similar but he scored the double-nickel (55pts) making 54% of his shoots and shooting 100% from the charity stripe once again. The game was closer, 106-101, but the Bulls still came out victorious. With those two games Michael Jordan became first player in the NBA to score 50+ points in consecutive playoff games.

The Cavs would hold home court to take the series to a deciding game 5, however MJ would not be denied as the Bulls won the series at home. These amazing games are one of the many reasons the Air Jordan 3 is one of the greatest models that has ever been created.
