After I came across the Converse All-Star 2000 in a recent trip to storage, I went down a rabbit hole looking at old Converse releases from the ‘90s and early 2000s. There are so many great footwear designs from Converse but this page that I first posted to the Eastbay Blog over a decade ago is about as good as an assortment as you will ever find on a single catalog page.
The “Ice Blue” All-Star 2000 for $39.99? Sign me up.
While the Y2K bug caught just about everyone when it comes to performance-turned-lifestyle running shoes from that era (Nike Vomero, Saucony ProGrid 4, etc), the retro basketball shoes from a similar time haven’t quite captivated the world of trendsetters with nostalgia for what could be argued as tge best era of basketbalk sneakers ever.
I do think we are inching our way to a basketball shoe resurgence. It’s not not a matter of time until the young 20-somethings who drive the footwear trends land on the era of Flightposites and other early 2000s hoops shoes. I just hope it lands slightly before Y2K styles so I can get a couple of these Converse in retro form.
