He might have started off in Philadelphia and ended his career in Houston but his middle years in Phoenix was probably Charles Barkley’s most exciting. It was the years that he came closest to winning a championship (damn you MJ) and it was the time he would go on to score his career high.

Showing that he was a gamer Sir Charles would make this feat happen on May 4th, 1994 against the Golden State Warriors. The outburst came in Oakland during game 3 of the first round of Western Conference Playoffs and tied the third-highest total in NBA Playoffs history. Of course on his feet were his signature Nike Air Max2 CB (now called Air Max2 CB ’94). Guarding him was Rookie of the Year Chris Webber, but he had no chance against the Round Mound of Rebound.
He started off the game hot by making his first 11 shots and scoring 27 points in the first quarter alone. He finished the game by making 23-21 field goals with three of those coming from 3-pt territory. Oh yeah he also added in 14 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block in the 140-133 victory to win the series. He never won a title but this game showed what a special player Barkley was.
