The adidas ZX 8000 has recently been getting the “Boost” treatment, but don’t overlook the fact that the model has been a staple of the three stripes brand since 1989. Re-released multiple times since its introduction, the original aqua/purple/yellow colorway has always been a popular one. In 2008 Bodega put a more subdued Boston spin on the ZX 8000 as part of the huge adidas 2008 “aZX” project.

Representing “B” in the aZX project, the Bodega make was one of the first half of releases from the pack consisting of the letters A-H. They reworked the model using a variety of different materials mixed with colors that worked well together. The multitude of textures on the sneaker come in the form of Army Green ripstop, red suede, and black textured paneling–those were the most noticeable pieces. There was also snakeskin texture on the heel along with reflective paneling and nubuck on the upper.

Bodega being Bodega, don’t think that they forgot about the details. The tongue tag featured a hand signal, the heel a cursive BDGA logo. Metal aglets on the laces finished off the details. Just one of the many shops asked to participate in the aZX project, the Bodega offering always stood out thanks to its usage of unique colors and materials.
