All-Star Weekend has been the most anticipated time of the year for sneaker releases since Michael Jordan and Nike began debuting the signature Air Jordan model back in the late 1980s. The 2020 NBA All-Star Sneaker Releases that are scheduled for February’s All-Star festivities in Chicago are shaping up to be an expensive week for sneaker enthusiasts.

All-Star Weekend releases continued to be a mainstay for those in the know through the early 2000s but in 2012, Nike launched the ‘Galaxy Pack’ and the rest of the world took notice. With the Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Galaxy’ as the must-have release from the pack, general consumers took note of All-Star sneaker drops from that point on. Much like the Air Jordan 11 that grabs the attention of the masses every holiday season, All-Star Weekend does the same now, making it much more challenging for sneakerheads to get the limited releases.

This year, Nike and Jordan Brand have more releases lined up than they ever have. With the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago, where the hype for sneakers began nearly 35 years ago, it’s only right that we get a chance to get the Air Jordan 1, Air Ship, and countless others that helped make sneakers what it is today. Thanks, Mike.
