No, no, no. Dikembe Mutombo and his finger wag was a constant sight of NBA fans during the 90’s–much to the chagrin of driving players. The big man was one of the best centers of the league during a time when big men were dominating. His career total of 3,256 blocked shots is second only to Hakeem Olajuwan, another product of the 90’s. The 1994 season was especially a good one for Dikembe and his Denver Nuggets. During the Nuggets unlikely Playoff run, and for most of the year, Dikembe rocked his signature adidas Mutombo 2.

During the first round of the Playoffs, lead by Mutombo, the 8th seeded Nuggets upset the Seattle Supersonics. Down 0-2, the Nuggets played their hearts out and were carried by Dikembe’s tough defense. The next round was another challenge with the Utah Jazz. During the seven-game series the Nuggets once again went down big, this time 0-3. But thanks to a furious run led by incredible defense and timely blocks, they ended up tying the series up 3-3 before losing in game 7. During that series the Big Man would record 38 blocks, breaking Hakeem’s record. The record stands to this date and the classic black/red Mutombo’s will always be part of NBA history.
