Today is a day that basketball and sneaker fans alike know, its Michael Jeffrey Jordan’s birthday. MJ is turning 52 years old and is now a billionaire, not to bad for a Brooklyn born-kid who couldn’t make the varsity squad in his sophomore year of High School. You won’t get many arguments when naming him as the best and most influential basketball player to ever play the game. If not for MJ the sneaker culture would not be what it is today. Jordan’s influence on basketball, his Charlotte Hornets are fighting for a playoff spot, and sneakers doesn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon. The Air Jordan brand is celebrating 30 years and growing everyday. Love him or hate him (some do), you can’t deny the influence Jordan has on sneakers and sports.
The Sneaker History team are sharing some of their favorite Michael Jordan memories for this birthday. Enjoy.
