As Kobe recently passed MJ on the all time scoring list, we couldn’t help but reminisce at the irony of one of Michael Jordan’s most memorable point scoring benchmarks. Back in 2002, Jordan became the second fastest NBA player to reach 30,000 points, behind, Wilt Chamberlain who reached 30k in 941 games. Although it came from a pair of free throws, and completely expected– who didn’t expect MJ to hit 30,000?– the ironic part was that it came against the team that he made one of the most recognizable sports franchises of all time, the Chicago Bulls. Jordan was wearing the Air Jordan 17 for the moment, which might explain why the 17 is one of the more popular late model Jordans.
